Daryl J. Ioerger

Daryl J. Ioerger, 69, of Normal, passed away at 9:33am at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, surrounded by his family.
He was born February 7, 1955 in Pontiac, the youngest child and only son of Virgil E. and Gladys I. Lawrence Ioerger. On November 1, 1980, he married Karen Sue Eckles in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; their children, Adam, Josh (Erin), and Bret Ioerger and Jenna (Romel) Rehman; his beloved granddaughters, Aalia and Kaylee; his sisters, Karen Cole, Sharon Sullivan, Karyl (Terry) Harris, and Maryl Salisbury; his large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his four legged companion, his dog, Chip.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Cheryl Ioerger.
Daryl graduated from Minonk Dana Rutland High School and he went on to attend Knox College, playing sports for both schools. He enjoyed a long career at Mitsubishi Motors in Normal and most recently worked at Rivian, managing parts and materials at both companies. He was a Packers owner and superfan, though he enjoyed all sports. Over the years, he coached baseball and softball, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife.
Time spent with his family, playing games or visiting with his granddaughters, were some of his favorite moments. His faith was also a cornerstone for him. He was a longtime member of Heartland Church in Normal and loved gospel music, whether he was listening to it or remembering the days singing it with his sisters.
His quiet, steady legacy of love will live on with his family.
Daryl's family will receive friends from 3:30pm-5:30pm Friday, December 27, 2024 at Heartland Church in Normal. A memorial service will begin at 6:30pm Friday at the church. Pastor Ed Wright will officiate. Inurnment will be at Minonk Township Cemetery in Minonk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Church or the American Cancer Society.
