Daryl John McCarty Jr.

Our loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend, Daryl John McCarty, Jr, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at home in South Jordan, Utah.

He was born on June 17, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Daryl McCarty Sr and Helen Brown McCarty. He married his college sweetheart Laura Nelson on December 17, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five children.

Daryl served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Los Angeles Mission. He graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S Degree in Finance. Daryl also received an MBA from Utah State University. He spent most of his career working for Kennecott, Rio Tinto. During his life Daryl served in many church callings including bishopric counselor, ward clerk, High Priest Group Leader, and his most favorite calling being a Primary teacher. Daryl cultivated many hobbies throughout his life. In his retirement, Daryl taught himself to paint. Many family members and friends now have paintings of his to treasure. Daryl was always dedicated to loving and caring for his family. Family was his highest priority; he sacrificed and loved us all so much. He spent countless hours serving neighbors and friends. Through his quiet example he taught his children how to take care of others.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife, Laura; their children, Jennie (Tim) Madison, DJ (Courtney Brocco), Sara (Seth) Homer, Kyle, and Brett (Emily Mulee). Seven grandchildren: Quinton Madison, Parker Madison, Tanner Madison, Tyson Madison, Sammie Homer, Stockton Homer and Simon Homer. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Maryanne) and sister Margie (Brad) Pulsipher, along with nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Mark McCarty.

The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the many friends and neighbors who looked after our parents during this time.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday March 7, 2026 at the South Jordan North Shore Chapel, 4484 Willoughby Drive, South Jordan UT. A visitation will be held at 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
