Daryl Dwayne Smith, age 63, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at his residence under the care of his family and Hospice of Washington County.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with Father Dane Dickinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home following the service. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lebowski's in Washington. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Daryl's family at www.jonesfh.com.
Daryl was born on April 6, 1962, in Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Daryl W. Harris and Judith L. Ogden. On February 13, 1999, he was united in marriage to Cheryl A. Ledger in Washington, Iowa.
Daryl worked as a truck driver for 43 years, driving millions of miles over the course of his career on the road. He loved staying in contact with friends and family, and many have said they will miss his frequent calls.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl A. (Ledger) Smith; son, Sam Smith and wife Gabi; his brothers, Chuck, Wayne, Lance, and Russell; and his stepmother, Deatra Harris.
Daryl was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Ogden; father, Daryl "Duke" Harris; brother, Craig Harris; and grandmother, Carthell Ogden.
