Lawrence Bartmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Symonds-Madison Funeral Home on Jan. 9, 2026.
Lawrence D. Bartman, age 96, of St. Charles, IL, passed away on December 20, 2025. He was born December 30, 1928 in Hedrick, IA to his loving parents, Henry R. and Clara Margrate (née Korfhage) Bartmann.

Lawrence graduated from Farson High School in Iowa and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. Following his service, he returned to Iowa, where he farmed the land near Ainsworth for many years-a life of hard work that reflected his quiet strength and deep connection to nature and tradition. He and his wife, Beverly (née Butcher), were married 50 years.

After retiring, Lawrence enjoyed many years in Mesa, Arizona, before relocating to Illinois in 2020 to be closer to family.

Lawrence will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, his deep devotion to his family, and his unwavering loyalty to the Chicago Cubs. His quiet wit, kind heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pauline Deeds; and son, Jeffery Bartmann. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Perkins of St. Charles, IL; son, David (Cynthia) Bartmann of Centennial, CO; daughter-in-law, Robin Bartmann of Wayland, IA; grandchildren, Lucas Perkins and Matthew Perkins, both of Chicago, IL, Stephanie Bartmann and Jessica Bartmann, both of Denver, CO, Julie (Adam) Klett of Wayland IA, and Christopher Bartmann of Washington, IA; and great-grandchildren, Audrey Perkins, Aleah Bechtel, Ella Klett, and Henry Bartmann.

A Celebration of Life will be held with family at a later date in Iowa. Interment will be private.

Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128.
