Jannie Dompier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Symonds-Madison Funeral Home on Mar. 18, 2026.
Jannie Michelle Dompier, age 81, of Elgin, IL, passed away on March 16, 2026. She was born April 12, 1944, in the Municipality of Mexico, Pampanga, Philippines to her loving parents, Melencio Alonzo and Fortunate Punzalan.

Jannie was homeschooled and went on to work as a machine operator at Hansen Plastics Corporation, where she dedicated many years before retiring. She took pride in her work and carried that same sense of commitment into every part of her life.

Jannie lived her life with a caring heart and a quiet strength that showed in the way she took care of her home and the man she shared her life with, her husband of 34 loving years, Donald. They met at the Atrium nightclub-a moment that would become the beginning of a lifetime of cherished memories. Their bond was a true partnership, built on love, laughter, and unwavering care for one another.

Jannie had a wonderful sense of humor and a gentle, caring nature that made those around her feel at ease. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was playing the slots, watching her favorite shows like General Hospital and Jeopardy, or celebrating special moments with her husband. Her happiest memories were the day she first met Donald, the day they married, and each birthday and anniversary they shared together.

Jannie's life was a testament to love, loyalty, and kindness. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew her.

Jannie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Reuben Alonzo and Nilkko Alonzo; and sisters, Demitria Cruz, Purification Cruz, and Gertrudez Olivar. She is survived by her husband, Donald Dompier; children, Josephine Gersch and Jawan Clements; sister, Candida; cousins, Ana Rose and Espie Dela Cruz; and nieces, Evelyn Fuller, Alicia Jackson, Rowena Capinlac, Rosalynda Alonzo, and Nelly Baldoza.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Monday, March 30, 2026, and will continue from 11:00am until funeral service at 12:00pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
