Dave Leonard Thompson

Dave Leonard Thompson, 61, of Windsor Locks, beloved partner, son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at UConn John Dempsey Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born on September 3, 1964, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Dave was the devoted son of Esmeda (Reid) Thompson and the late Icanuel Thompson. He carried with him a deep love of his roots and family throughout his life.

Dave built a long and successful career in the utility industry, first with the Connecticut Office of the Consumer Counsel (OCC) and later with Eversource, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, knowledge, and dedication. He took pride in his work and the relationships he formed along the way. He was a consumer advocate at heart and was always concerned about the impact of energy costs on people struggling to make ends meet. At the OCC, he was recognized by the Governor for his professionalism and hard work which helped to ensure safe and reliable utility services.

Outside of his career, Dave embraced life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a passion for service and education. For many years, Dave served on the boards of the Dibble Hollow Condominum Association in Windsor Locks and the Highville Charter School in New Haven. He seized every opportunity to travel to widen his horizons. Road trips and cruises were among his favorite adventures, allowing him to explore new places while creating lasting memories. At home, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his family, friends and baking, especially Christmas cakes for those he loved.

In addition to his mother, Dave is survived by his loving partner, Cecile Fraser; children, Shannon and Joevanni Thompson; his sisters, Delores Gardner, Dalcie Stephenson, Carol Dunn, and Jennifer Myrie; his brothers, Cadien Dennis, Bradley Thomson, Andy Thompson, Brian Thompson and Rohan Thompson; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his father, Icanuel Thompson.

Services for Dave will be held in Toronto, Canada, at a later date.
