David Abbott Obituary

Published by Legacy from Aug. 19 to Aug. 20, 2025.
David Lee Abbott Sr., lovingly known as "Ripper," of Gulf Breeze (Midway), Florida, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, at the age of 68.

Born on September 15, 1956, in Milton, Florida, David built a full and hardworking life rooted in family, dedication, and resilience. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Georgia, and together they raised two children, Hollie and David Jr. He was a proud grandfather to Jesse, Bailey, and Riley Mae, who brought him endless joy.

David dedicated 50 years of his life to road construction, working as a heavy equipment operator and foreman. Known for his tremendous work ethic, he retired in 2017, leaving behind not only the roads he helped build but also the legacy of hard work and commitment he instilled in those around him.

A true fighter, David was called a miracle by his doctors after surviving colon cancer, throat cancer, lung cancer, and several heart attacks. He had been cancer-free since 2009, a testament to his strength and perseverance. Though his spirit remained strong, his heart was finally ready to rest.

A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations, which may be sent via CashApp to $GeorgiaAbbott.

David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His strength, love, and legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
