David John "Dave" Allen

David (Dave) John Allen, 70, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at his home in San Clemente California., after a long history of heart disease. Born in Chicago, IL on June 1, 1952, Dave was the son of the late John and Florence (Hawks) Allen. Dave is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol (nee Brooks), four children -Luci, wife of James Donnan; Julie, wife of Daniel Trotter; Teri, wife of Paul Guercio and David, husband of Alie (Folcke), eleven grandchildren (Matthew, Liam, Ryan, Patrick, A.J., Samuel, Charlie, Abigail, Olivia, Brooklyn and Kellan), brother, Daniel (Mirian) Allen, sister Janice (John) Meade and many nieces and nephews. Dave worked many years at Mobil Oil both in Joliet, IL and Torrence, California as well as Koch Industries in Pine Bend, MN, Corpus Christi, TX and Wichita, KS. After retiring to Encinitas, CA, Dave served on the HOA Board for 7 years. During that time, he enjoyed volunteering for Wounded Warriors as well as many other charities. He had a love-hate relationship with golf and enjoyed traveling to Scotland where he played golf at St. Andrews. It was well-known that his favorite movie was Jaws and his hero was Indiana Jones. Dave graduated from Oak Lawn Community High School in 1970. He went on to study at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) where he earned a degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering in 1974. He was also a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity where he made many life-long friends.

Visitation Friday August 19, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Thompson and Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn, IL.

Funeral Saturday 9:15 am from Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home to St. Gerald Church for Mass at 10:00 am.

Interment Orland Memorial Park.
