David Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2025.
David R. Allen followed his beloved wife Debbie Lund into the afterlife on 10/14/2025. He died suddenly at home.

David grew up in Newton, Kansas. He was the oldest son of Ralph and Helen Allen. In high school he worked outside mowing for the County and helping his uncle Harry Dudte with harvests. He graduated from Newton High in 1965.

He went to K-State on a scholarship and supported himself working part-time. He graduated KU in 1971 with a BA in English. He was initially an investment consultant and eventually worked as an insurance adjuster in Topeka, Kansas.

David met Debbie after his employer transferred him to Minneapolis. They ran into each other at their apartment complex and were together for a number of years before they were married in 1985. They enjoyed a 40-year marriage and had a charming home in Golden Valley MN.

David worked at the same job his entire career, and he was able to start enjoying retirement at an early age. He had 15-years to play golf, watch sports (Mainly KU) with his friends in his garage/man cave and help neighbors and friends.

He also enjoyed gardening and watching Star Trek.

David was loved by neighbors, in-laws and family for his jokes and great heart.

He was a good provider and He and Debbie helped rescue many animals.

He had many friends and in-laws in Minneapolis. They, along with his brother and sisters, are sad to see him go ahead of them.

There will be a celebration of life at Brookview community center, Golden Valley MN Friday 11/21 at 4:00 for Both David and Debbie.

We will all miss you, David.
