David Eugene Anderson passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at 86 years of age in his home surrounded by his family.
Dave was born on February 10, 1938, to Alert and Mary Anderson in Webster City, Iowa. One of four children: brothers Dean and Steve, and sister Sharon. He attended school in Webster City, Iowa. He married Shirley Hill on October 18, 1957, a long-lasting love and marriage that began in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They began building their life in Duncombe, Iowa and soon after, began building a family with the birth of their daughter, Kathy, and son, Charles.
They started farming and then moved to Boone. Dave farmed and worked construction in Boone and Ogden. He served on the 4H board and as a board member at First Assembly of God in Boone. He loved to fish, travel, and camp, but most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dave was an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength, hard work, honesty, and dedication. It was easy to see these characteristics in his actions and hear his ability to love in his laugh. Dave's love for the Lord was instrumental in the man he was and he shared his faith generously with others. He will be greatly missed.
Dave was predeceased by his father and mother, Alert and Mary Anderson, daughter, Kathy Anderson, brother, Dean Anderson, and sister, Sharon Johnson. He is survived by wife Shirley Anderson; brother and sister-in law, Steve and Ruth Anderson; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Katheryn Anderson; son-in-law, Gordon Steffensmeier; sister-in-law, Teddy Anderson; grandchildren: Kristin Anderson, Serena and Olivia Steffensmeier, Payton Anderson, and Paul and Boston Sandhu; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Gabrielle Sundall.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at First Assembly of God in Boone. Interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone following the funeral service. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone.
