David B. Annis Jr. passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, with his family by his side. David, or Dave depending on his mood, was a man of many talents and interests. His was a unique soul, built with resilience and gratitude for all that life had to offer. He was a consummate storyteller with a brilliant mind - eager to share his knowledge and perspectives on life with the world.
Born in Fond du Lac, WI on October 8, 1948, David had many roles in his 75 years with us - most importantly, Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, and Grandpa but also Hooligan, Spelling Bee Champ, National Merit Scholar, Amateur Magician, Episcopalian, Mathematician, Unix Guru, Singer, Charlie Brown, Foreigner, A Man of La Mancha, Teacher, Friend, Mentor, Camp Counsellor, Cursillista, Delegate, Motorcyclist, Traveler, Musician/Guitarist, Packer Fan, Coach, Soccer Dad/Referee, Hiker, Camper, Social Justice Advocate, Idealist, Theologian and many more. Through it all, his faith in God and the strength of his devotion to his wife, family, church community, and friends sustained him.
David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rachel (née Vander Weyst), his son, James (Allison) Annis, his daughter, Sarah Bernhardt, all of Sheboygan, WI, his brothers, Fredrick (Joan) Annis of De Pere, WI and Richard (Colleen) Annis of Fort Wayne, IN, his grandchildren, Brenna (Brian), James Jr., Jack, Chace, Emma, Logan, Lila, Ella, Finn and Grace, and other beloved family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his father, David B. Annis Sr., and his mother, Shirley Pearl Annis (née St. George).
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 17th, at Grace Episcopal Church in Sheboygan, WI (1011 N. 7th St). Visitation will be from 9 - 11 am, with a service and reception immediately to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Episcopal Relief and Development or Grace Church Refugee Resettlement.
