Funeral services for David Jefferson Armstrong, 89, will be held Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 9891 Texas Hwy, Many, Louisiana. A burial will follow at Zwolle City Cemetery in Zwolle, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Brother James Tidwell.
David was born on July 18, 1935 to Jesse Armstrong and Florence Bass Armstrong in Zwolle, Louisiana and passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 in Zwolle, Louisiana.
David was a people person. He loved to work with the public and never met a stranger. One of his favorite past times was spent tending to and riding his horses. His faithful companion, Boston, was always by his side. He was a family man, and it was known that his family was the love of his life.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Florence Armstrong; father, Jesse Armstrong; siblings, Glennis Leone, Wanda Booth, Kenneth Armstrong, and Preston Armstrong; and grandson, Eric Gilliam. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Armstrong of Zwolle, Louisiana; sons, David Jay Armstrong and wife, Vivian, of Zwolle, Louisiana and Jimmy Dean Armstrong and wife, Carmella, of Many, Louisiana; stepsons, Greg Dyess of Mansfield, Louisiana and Lloyd Dyess of Bossier City, Louisiana; daughters, Jan Bonnette and husband, Terry, of Tyler, Texas and Jerri Lynn Tovar of Fayetteville, Arkansas; stepdaughter, LaJuana Gooden and husband, Jerrell, of Mansfield, Louisiana; sister, Sue Walraven of Stonewall, Louisiana; brothers, Lavell Armstrong of Stonewall, Louisiana and Doug Armstrong of Joaquin, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Honoring David as pall bearers will be Darrell Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, Derek Bonnette, Jay Gooden, Josh Gooden, Keaton Montgomery, and Kobe Montgomery. Jace Gooden will serve as an honorary pall bearer.
