Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus...Philippians 4:6-7

In Loving Memory of David Askew, Sr. April 21, 1948 – August 6, 2025
David Askew, Sr., a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, was born on April 21, 1948, to Herman
Askew, Sr. and Mary Lee Askew in Houston County, Georgia. He peacefully departed this life on
Wednesday, August 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.
David was educated in the Houston County school system and later dedicated many years of hard work to
Pineview Peanut Company, from which he retired. Known for his quiet strength and unwavering devotion
to family, David touched the lives of many with his kindness and humility.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Golden Askew; eight loving children: Percilla
(Ronald) McKenzie, Morris (Latasha) Askew, Tony Askew, Patricia (Patrick) Williams, Laverne
(Mercedes) Jackson, Debra Wilson, Gwen (James) Gamble, and Randy (Sierra) Johnson. He is also
survived by his loving mother, Mary Lee Askew; four brothers: Herman Askew Jr., Leon Askew, Morris
Askew, and Emory Askew, all of Perry, GA; and one sister, Patricia (Johnny Ray), also of Perry, GA.
David's extended family includes three brothers-in-law, McArthur Lane, Willie James (Diane) Johnson
and Elijah Johnson; five sisters-in-law: Martha (L.C.) Bryant, Paula Johnson, Annette Mathis, Marie
Dillard, and Oralee (Hamp) Batton; two devoted uncles, James Askew and Willie C. Whitfield; and a host
of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
David Askew, Sr. will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his dedication to family, and the warmth he
brought to every room. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Gentle Soul at Rest

In memory of David Askew, Sr.

He walked with grace through quiet days, A steady heart, a faithful gaze. With hands that worked, with
love that grew, He gave the world a life so true.
His laughter warmed the coldest night; His wisdom was a guiding light. In every hug, in every prayer, we
felt his love beyond compare.
Though now he rests, his spirit stays, In whispered winds and golden rays. We'll hold his memory, strong
and deep, A treasure ours alone to keep.
So sleep in peace, your work is done, Your legacy shines like the sun. Forever missed, forever near- In
every heart that holds you dear.
