Rochester NY, formerly of Leroy Island /Sodus NY: April 28, 2024 at age 87. Predeceased by his wife, Cheryl; brother, Richard. Survived by son, Christopher (Gayle) Shalvoy; daughters, Angel, Bambi, and Starr Asmuth; grandson, Raymond (Erica) Shalvoy; sister, Judi Asmuth; brother, Kenneth (Pat Warters) Asmuth; stepchildren, Todd & Mitch Lange, Wendy Lathrop, Karen Church; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends who were family.
David was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, serving during the Korean War, earning his Sharpshooter status and rank of Sergeant. He raced in the late 1950's to early 1960's with his Austin Healy 100 and several other "marques" and held lap records at several tracks. Lifelong member of the MG Car Club of Western NY. Member of the American Legion Post 881 in Wolcott NY. David worked for Otis Elevator and later, National Elevator Inspection Services as Vice President of the Eastern Region. He owned Sunset Recreation, that notably hosted a PBA Regional Tournament for many years. He was a great lover of Jazz, and a hands-on car enthusiast.
Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will deeply be missed by those he knew.
Services private per David's wishes. Contributions in David's memory may be directed to the American Legion Post 881, 10675 Ridge Rd, Wolcott NY 14590. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
