David Martin Aud, 71 years old, of
Mechanicsville, MD peacefully passed away on February 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
David was born on February 23, 1952, to the late James Jefferson Aud and Martina Victoria Bussler Aud in
Leonardtown, MD. After David Graduated from Great Mills High School in 1970, he pursued a job at Stewart Petroleum as a Deckhand. He then went on to attend Harry Lundeberg School to attend Merchant Marine School in
Piney Point, MD. David then worked his way up to become one of the Best Tugboat Captains. He was a very dedicated and hard worker. He loved what he did. He was one of the few Captains who could navigate a boat from the stars without equipment. During his years in the industry, he gained a reputation for being a skilled operator and was highly respected by his colleagues. he was always a hard worker, even on his time off the tugboat he had his crab boat that he worked. He believed you have to work hard in this life if you want to have nice things and he always taught us that by his example.
David retired in 2012. While retired, David enjoyed his time fishing, crabbing, and bird watching, playing pitch, watching NASCAR, football, and wrestling. He was an avid collector of fine things. David loved to sit outside on a nice day in the sun with all his cats and enjoy the beautiful weather. He enjoyed smoking his cigars and coffee.
In 1983, David met his beloved wife, Sara Aud. David was blessed with Daughter Ann (Andy) McNeal, of Virginia. Daughter Elizabeth (Wayne) Faulkner. Also surviving is his brother Joel (Barbara) Aud, sisters Vickie Aud McCool, Esther (Bruce) Smith, Iris (Paul) Roberts, and Gail Ellis. Surviving grandchildren are Christopher Michael Benoit, Jessica Lynn Benoit, Megan McNeal, Jimmy McNeal, David Faulkner, and great-grandchild, Maria Lynn Benoit.
David was a deeply beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He always had a great sense of humor and witty comments that could always make you smile. His passing was sudden and unexpected he will always be deeply missed. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, maybe looking back on memories of David help comfort us tomorrow.
David was predeceased by his father, James Jefferson Aud, mother Martina Victoria Bussler Aud and son John Christopher Deel, and sister Janet Scammell.
On Friday, February 9, 2024 the family will receive friends for the visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the service beginning at noon at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road,
Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will be private.
