David Michael Azerolo, fondly known as Dave or Azzie, left this world on January 7, 2026, at the age of 78, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on January 25th, 1947, Dave's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and community.

A proud veteran, Dave served in the army from 1969 through 1971, where he toured in Vietnam as a chaplain's assistant. His time in service imbued him with strength and compassion that he carried throughout his life. After returning, he channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into various ventures, successfully owning his own businesses and working in multiple banks. His business acumen was matched only by his warm demeanor, making him both a respected figure in his professional circles and a cherished companion to those who knew him.

Dave’s heart was truly at its brightest when it came to his family. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was going to a ballgame surrounded by three generations of loved ones or teasing his daughter-in-law about her baking skills, his humor was a constant source of joy. He was an exceptional grandfather, lovingly called "pawpaw," who took great pride in teaching his granddaughter Kazuko how to fish, ensuring that those moments would be cherished for a lifetime. The laughter he shared with family and friends during ski trips, fishing excursions, and lively card games will be treasured memories etched in their hearts forever.

His unwavering love for his wife, Winnora Azerolo, exemplified the partnership that many aspire to achieve. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with adventures, laughter, and shared dreams. The love they nurtured created a strong bond that touched everyone around them.

Dave's warmth extended beyond his immediate family; he was a loving father to his son, Ben Azerolo, and daughter, Nikki Azerolo-Held, whose happiness always remained a priority for him. He also embraced his son and daughter in-law, Keith and Kimi, into the family with open arms, enjoying shared moments and new experiences together. His grandchildren, Eli and Kazuko, were the apples of his eye, and he took immense pride in being part of their lives.

Dave's siblings through marriage, sister-in-law Wilma Deane and brother-in-law Larry Deane, were considered integral parts of his family tapestry. Their bonds were filled with affection and support, embodying the way Dave connected with all those around him.

As we bid farewell to Dave, we reflect on the incredible legacy he leaves behind—a legacy filled with laughter, compassion, and love for all. His visitation will take place on January 14, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A graveside service will then be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.

In remembering Dave, let us carry forward his kindness, his humor, and his indescribable love for others. The world was a better place with him in it, and while he may have gone from our sight, he will forever remain in our hearts.
