David Bandy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans & Browne's Funeral Home on Jan. 5, 2026.
Mr. David Bandy, Sr. affectionately known as "Uncle David" or Uncle Bro" was born on January 17, 1933 in Lowndes County, Alabama to Nellie Bandy and Louis Bandy. He peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, January 3, 2026 in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 92 years. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and love for his family and community.

In 1953, David moved to Saginaw, Michigan, in search of greater opportunities. Shortly thereafter, he began a long and dedicated career with Saginaw Malleable Iron, General Motors, Corp. where he worked in different trades. His strong work ethic and skilled hands defined his professional life, and he remained with the company until his retirement in 1991. Outside of work, David took great pride in doing small appliance repairs, always ready to help someone in need.

David had many interests; he enjoyed the finer things in life. He was an avid traveler, especially fond of cruises, and had a deep appreciation for sport cars and trucks. He loved collecting model cars and spending quality time with the loved ones he cared about. He also enjoyed savoring his favorite meals-breakfast, particularly a good bowl of oatmeal.

A man committed to service and fellowship, David was a proud member of the Masons since 1982 and was actively involved in the Local Lions Club. His faith was an integral part of his life, as he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age, guiding him throughout his years.

David was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Bandy, Jr.; sisters, his twin, Daisy Bandy, Rosie Bell Nelson, Lillie Bell Cavers, Florence Hayes, Catherine Dillard, Willie Mae Cheatham, Dora Patrick and Josephine McCall; his brothers, Joe Bandy, Spencer Bandy, Sr., Adam Bandy, Priches Bandy, James Bandy and Jesse Bandy.

Mr. David Bandy, Sr. will be remembered for his wisdom, craftsmanship, love of life, and the quiet strength he shared with all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

The family would like to thank all friends, neighbors, and caregivers for their love and support.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026 at New Life Baptist Church Ministries, 1401 Janes Ave., Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Dr. Craig Tatum will officiate with Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
