David Laurence Barker

October 2, 1941 – July 14, 2025

David Laurence Barker, 83, of Deming, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025.

Born on October 2, 1941, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, David was the son of Kenneth and Grace Barker. He is survived by his brothers, Daniel and Benjamin, his sister, Esther, and many loving nieces and nephews.

David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for six years and was honorably discharged. His dedication to duty and country will be recognized with full military honors during his inurnment.

In the later years of his life, David found profound meaning and purpose in his Catholic faith. A devout Catholic, he lovingly handcrafted rosaries for his friends and family-sharing not only a symbol of faith, but also his generous spirit.

David was known for his adventurous soul and passion for long-distance road trips on his motorcycle. He took great joy in traveling to visit loved ones, always maintaining strong connections across miles.

Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday morning, July 31, 2025 at 10 o'clock at Holy Family Catholic Church where a rosary will begin at 10:30 to be led by Suzanne Lundy. A memorial mass will follow at 11 o'clock with Fr. Prakasham Babu officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be that afternoon at 2 o'clock at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 612 S. Copper, Deming, NM 88030, a community that deeply enriched David's life.
