Edward J. Barker, age 78, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at his home in Wauchula, Florida. Edward was born in Watertown, NY, on July 25, 1946, son of the late Walter and Mary (Birchenough) Barker. Edward was predeceased by his sisters Barbara, Joan, and Patricia. On November 12, 1983, he was married to Linda (Drum) Barker. Edward was a former Deputy Chief of the Scottsville Fire Department. He owned and operated Barker Flooring for over 40 years. Edward then moved to Copenhagen, New York, where he moved through the ranks and ultimately retired from the Department Authority of the North Country (DANC) as a Senior Heavy Equipment Operator. After retiring, Edward and Linda moved to Florida. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved being outdoors. He was a champion bocce player and shuffleboard player. Edward's biggest pastime was telling his jokes whenever and wherever he could get someone to listen! He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda, his children, Jon (Jodi) Barker, Randy (Alecia) Barker, and Michael (Rakay Fiorito) Barker. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Hanna Barker, Brandon (Amanda Mietlicki) Barker, Trent Barker, Kayleigh (Paul) Centola, Corey (Jill) Wood, and Teah Fiorito. Linda's family and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. There will be a memorial and celebration of life at a future date in New York and Florida. Details will be shared once finalized.
