David Frederick Barksdale

A Reason to Rejoice

David Barksdale, age 69, fell asleep in death on January 29, 2026, at 9:27 a.m. at WellStar MCG in

Augusta, GA.

Born on November 12, 1956, in Carle Place, New York, David was the beloved son of Elsie and Fred

Barksdale. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and a caring brother, brother-in-law, and

son- in-law. He was a true friend to many. Above all, David was a faithful, baptized servant of

Jehovah for over 40 years, a faith he didn't just talk about but lived every day. His faith guided

his decisions, shaped his outlook, and gave him strength through every season of life.

David had a warm, inviting spirit and a sense of humor that could light up a room. He loved to

joke, to laugh, and to bring smiles to others. Even in the face of illness and life's challenges,

he remained hopeful, steady, and full of trust in Jehovah. His resilience, faith, and joy left a

lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Elsie; his father, Fred; his brother, Butch; and his cousins,

Glen and Sheila. David is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia; his daughter, Danisha; his twin

sister, Delia; his mother-in-law, Mary Johnson; sister-in-law, Corinthia Rawlinson; and

brothers-in-law Tyrone Rawlinson, Timothy Johnson, Charles Johnson, and Lance Chiddick, in addition

to a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss him

deeply.

As Jehovah's Witnesses, David and his family held tightly to the Bible's promise of the

resurrection. With that hope, they look forward with confidence and joy to the day when they will

see David again in Jehovah's promised new world-healthy, whole, and very likely still telling

jokes.

Viewings will be held on Friday February 6, 2026 and Saturday February 7, 2026

Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Forest Hills Kingdom Hall of

Jehovah's Witnesses at 1990 Highland Ave, Augusta, GA 30904 at 4pm.
