David Barrow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caruth Village Funeral Home on Dec. 26, 2025.
David Barrow, born April 28, 1937, passed away on December 24, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Dave enjoyed a long and varied professional career spanning more than 40 years in the financial services industry. Throughout his career, he held positions at numerous community banks and financial management firms. Among his professional highlights were serving as president of two community banks in Illinois and Missouri and later as a managing partner of the financial advisory firm Ponder and Associates. Dave had a lifelong passion for investing and closely followed the stock market.
An avid golfer, Dave played the game for more than 50 years. He was also a devoted outdoorsman who loved fishing, goose and duck hunting, and deer hunting-though, by his own admission, deer hunting often became an opportunity for nature watching rather than harvesting. Dave was also an accomplished cook and took great pride in the kitchen, going so far as to write his own cookbook of favorite recipes and personal advice, which he shared with his family. In addition, Dave greatly enjoyed playing bridge. He and his wife, Glenda, participated in many bridge tournaments together and achieved the Life Master level.
Dave was the son of the late Delores (Clark) Barrow and John Herschel Barrow of Centralia, Illinois.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Glenda (Meyer) Barrow; his daughter, Jayne (Barrow) Marcinkowski, and her husband, Carl, of Yardley, Pennsylvania; his grandsons, David and his wife, Lauren, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and Thomas and his wife, Emily, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and his three cherished great-grandchildren, Jace, Jayme, and Claire, who were a constant source of joy to him. Dave was especially grateful to have hosted his entire family this past summer at his home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave's name to Ducks Unlimited, One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120.
