David Barry Obituary

Published by Campbell Funeral Home - Gloucester on May 29, 2017.
David Barry, beloved husband, father and friend, was called away from this world on Monday, May 29th . Born in Gloucester on January 2, 1949, he was the son of John Urban Barry and Violet (Giovannini) Barry. David had a love for music from an early age. In the early 1970s, he was the lead guitarist and vocalist for several popular Gloucester-based Rock n' Roll bands. David graduated from St. Ann's High School and attended Merrimack College where he studied Electrical Engineering. Dave's expertise with electronic equipment made him a sought-after Maintenance Technician in the high tech semi-conductor industry. Above all, David was a devout family man who never left his wife Pattie's side, and often referred to her as the force that held him together. He was a proud father of their sons, Avery and John, and often shook his head in amazement at their accomplishments. Dave was also a gloating Grandfather who relished spending time with his Grandchildren. Although David leaves a unique void and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends, great comfort is taken in knowing he was a very spiritual person who looked beyond the physical world. He shared this with others, and viewed everyone who touched his life in the light of his spiritual values. Quite simply said, Dave was always there to help anyone, even on social media, which has become evident through the grief expressed by his many caring Facebook friends from around the world. In addition to his wife, Pattie, he is survived by his sons Avery and John Barry; sibling Patricia M. Barry; grandchildren Brittney, Lisa, Brandon, Jade, Wyatt, and John "Jack" Barry; great-grandchildren Riley and Layla Pavenski, cousins, much-loved in laws, and many friends he considered family. A celebration of the life of David will be held at the Pond View Village Function Hall at 23 LePage Ln., Gloucester, on June 25th, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Please omit flowers. Contributions to services may be made to Pattie Barry at 5 LePage Ln., Gloucester, MA, 01930.

My deepest sympathy to David's family and close friends. I'll always see him as the young, cute, funny, talented musician of adolescence. I danced to his music and chummed with him and mutual friends. Just thinking about him brings a happy feeling and smile to my face. His spiritually was well-known and his energy was strong. You can be assured his presence will be felt often. Love is eternal and Dave left a song for all. God Bless You

My sincere sympathy to all the members of David's family. I will remember him always as a part of my
graduating class of 66'. We had a lot of fun especially dancing up a storm to the music of Dave and the Dukes! Rest in peace and love David.

There aren't enough words to express how much I will miss my friend. Life won't be the same, but it will still be good as Dave would expect nothing less from his loved ones. He is at peace and wants us to carry on with him in our hearts. So long old friend,

I miss my cousin, my friend Dave Barry. He was a beautiful soul whom will live on forever in my heart. If you were his friend you knew he loved you. His wife Pattie has been my best friend since we were kids and she shares the wonderful memories and adventures they had together. He had a huge heart and loved his family, friends and music. He was a talented musician and we all loved his music. He was quick witted with a great sense of humor and a very intelligent man. You will live on forever in my heart as well in the hearts of many. I know I will see you again one day but until then goodbye my love, good bye my friend. Love you always R.I.P.

Was shocked when Pat told me of your passing. Will always remember when you visited both me and my aunt here in Pigeon Cove.
