Remembering David E. Bartlett
A Life of Love and Laughter

Many leave this world with an unfinished "to-do" list. David had one too, but the important things were checked off long ago:

• Loving his wife and daughter unconditionally
• Working hard day and night to provide for his family
• Being a man of faith who loved God
• Embracing life and challenges with gusto
• Finding humor in every moment and living life to its fullest

David loved his family and his Maine roots. He was truly the life of the party-always quick with a laugh, a nickname, or a story. He never missed the chance to bring joy to those around him. Graduate of Mexico High School in 1975, he worked a few jobs before following in his father's footsteps to become a conductor for 35 plus years at Maine Central Railroad.

Railroad Man, Problem Solver, and Mainer to his core

David's long career on the railroad gave him lifelong friendships and countless stories. Whether conducting, fixing, or training, he was respected for his expertise and grit. If something was broken, David could fix it-no matter if it was a car, a bike, a mailbox, or anything in between. Everyone who knew him soon realized he had a tool for every job and was happy to fix it before buying new. What others might toss, he would see as a treasure and soon bring back to life.

Humor, Nicknames, and Creativity

Dave was known for his quick wit, endless creativity, and his collection of nicknames. Some of his most enduring include "The Babe," "Choo Choo," "The Teenager," "The Riddler," "Dave-O," "Davie" and "Sparky". He gave just as many nicknames as he received, always perfectly fitting.
He had a special love for animals- chipmunks, dogs, cats, and his grand bunnies. Nicknames abound for them as well.

Dave also loved the simple joys of life: Traveling in and outside of Maine, a day at the beach or an exotic island trip. An adventurous fun-filled day would always follow when Dave was by your side.

A Steady Rock for Many

Whatever Dave did, he did it with passion, humor, and heart. He will be remembered most for his ability to make us laugh at ourselves. He was a steady rock to many, and his presence brought comfort, levity, and guidance.

Dave's life was rich with friendship, laughter, faith and generosity. He was one of a kind, and his memory will forever bring smiles to those who loved him.
