David August Bax, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 17, 1942, in St. Anthony, Missouri, the son of Alvis Henry and Leona Anna (Schepers) Bax.

He was a 1960 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School.

On July 27, 1963, in St. Elizabeth, he was united in marriage to Dolores Veronica Kirkweg who survives at the home.

David worked as a carpenter for Braun Plastering Company for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, Carpenter's Union Local 945, Fraternal Order of Eagle's Aerie 2693, and the Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5.

David enjoyed traveling by car sightseeing through many of the states, planting and gardening, and playing cards with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Bax, Jefferson City; three children, Darla Otto, Rocky Mount, MO; Jeffrey (Buffy) Bax, Jefferson City; Michael Bax, Jefferson City; 6 grandchildren, Eric, David, Derek, Abigail, Elijah, Ireland; 4 great grandchildren, Raeley, Bella, Owen and Lilly; and a sister, Dorothy Franken.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Hilary Bax, James Bax, and Dennis Bax.

A family prayer service was held at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City with the Rev. Nicholas Reid officiating. Burial followed at St. Martins Catholic Cemetery.
