David Lloyd Beckman, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025. He was true to his name
"David" which means beloved.
Born December 10, 1948, David was the devoted son of Lloyd and Eileen (Schairer) Beckman.
He grew up in Burlington, Illinois, where he developed a lifelong affection for the animals and
pets that lived on the farm. Even after graduating from Burlington Central High School in 1967,
he carried the spirit of the farm with him. His love for rural life and its simplicity never left him.
David married the love of his life, Dorothy SueAnne on July 26, 1975. He was joyfully accepted
into the Schulock family who all loved him dearly. Dorothy SueAnne and Dave's devotion to one
another was an inspiration, a bond that was beautifully celebrated this past year as they marked
their Golden 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 26, 2025. Their marriage reflected their true
unconditional love for each other.
Dave dedicated many proud years of service working for Illinois Department of Transportation
(IDOT). He expertly operated a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators and massive
snow plows especially during harsh Midwest winters, working to maintain safe roadways in
Illinois. He was also known as a talented mechanic, a man who truly could fix just about
anything.
His greatest pride was his family. As a sweet and supportive Dad, he and his only daughter,
Angela, shared a close and loving bond that was at the very heart of their connection. He also
shared a special camaraderie with his son-in-law, Mike Heinig. They spent many hours of
enjoyment discussing their shared passion for cars. The utmost joy of his life was his one and
only granddaughter, Samantha. He proudly held the title of "Granddad," which she affectionately
called him, and their treasured relationship brought him immeasurable happiness.
David deeply valued his family roots and time he spent with his brother, Daryl Beckman. He was
also a proud uncle to Daryl's twin children, Bob and Karen. He looked forward to their family
traditions, particularly his taste for sweets, which was usually fulfilled by Daryl's wife, Margaret
(Mickey). Dave eagerly awaited the homemade fudge that Mickey personally made just for him
for his birthday.
David will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a good man who possessed a gentle
heart and quiet strength, always taking the time to genuinely connect with everyone he spoke
with. While he held the cherished titles of son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, father, father
in-law, uncle, and granddad, he was also a great friend. He was blessed to have shared several
life long friendships, which he greatly appreciated. His presence will be profoundly missed.
On David's behalf, we thank all of the family members, friends, neighbors and the many
dedicated doctors and nurses who helped him and us through his many health challenges of
which he rarely complained. May he now rest in eternal peace with all the loved ones who have
gone before him. For further information call Yurs Funeral Home 630-584-0060
