David Alan Benske, age 83, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on December 10, 2025, surrounded by family.
Dave was born April 23, 1942, in Milwaukee to Edwin and Esther Benske (nee Bronk). He was the eldest of nine children. He graduated from South Division High School in 1961 after which he served in the Air Force from 1962 until 1966.
Dave proudly served with the Milwaukee Police Department for 29 years; he was on the TAC Squad, an expert marksman, and retired as a Sergeant.
In 1963, Dave married Judith Grippe and they shared 62 wonderful years together. He is survived by his spouse Judy, and children Gregory (Cindy), Jeffrey (Steph), Jennifer (Jason), and Talitha (Matt); grandchildren George, Madilyn, Gabrielle, Adam, and Nadia.
Dave is also survived by siblings Sue, Carol, Mary, Betsy, Barbara and Robert. Further survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Jackie, and sister Judy SanFelippo.
Dave’s greatest joy was his grandchildren and bragging about their achievements and accomplishments to anyone he could talk to.
A visitation will be held on January 9th, 2026, at Molthen-Bell & Son Funeral Home 700 Milwaukee Avenue, South Milwaukee from 11am to 2pm. A Milwaukee Police Department honor salute and short tribute will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Dave’s family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
