David Andrew Biché, 65, a man full of compassion, love, caring, giving and service to others, passed away suddenly but peacefully on September 27, 2025, at his home in Lansdowne, PA.

Born on January 11, 1960, in Syracuse, NY, David was the son of the late William J. and Annette E. (Andrews) Biché. David's life was a testament to the love he had for his family and community. His outward mindset of thinking beyond himself, manifested in a passion for teaching and mentoring young adults, and a deep faith in God.

As a youngster growing up in Rochester, NY, David had an intense curiosity of learning how things worked whether it be cars, bikes or anything mechanical. He learned the values of hard work and fairness. He attended Blessed Sacrament and St John's the Evangelist grammar schools, and McQuaid Jesuit High School. At McQuaid, he excelled in the sciences and math, was involved in many clubs, and played center on their championship football teams. After high school, David attended the University of Dayton, where he was a dominant force on the rugby pitch and graduated in 1982 with degrees in Philosophy and Systems Science Engineering.

After college, David moved to the Philadelphia area where he met the love of his life, Doris Halsey, during a visit to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where Doris works as a nurse. It was love at first sight. After dating and taking many trips to the beach (their happy place), they married on April 12, 1986. Their first apartment in South Philly was followed several years later by moving into their house in Lansdowne, PA where they have called home for over 35 years, raised their sons, Gregory, Samuel, Emmanuel, Peter, Vincent. In recent years they began adopting English Bulldogs through local rescue organizations. In 2000, Doris and David travelled to Mexico to adopt Emmanuel, Peter and Vincent and welcomed them with open arms into their home and family.

After several years working in the home construction and remodeling industry, David's passion for building led to him starting his own custom construction company, David A. Biché Custom Construction over 30 years ago. Several of his boys worked with their dad. David used this as another opportunity to teach his sons not only construction and client skills, but also the values he treasured.

Given David's passion for taking care of others, he was deeply committed to and involved in many church and community organizations. At St. Philomena, his church, David was on the parish council, served as a eucharistic minister, and taught CCD. In the community, he was a leader with the local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, a leader within his Cursillo group, and a volunteer and riding partner for the Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports. He loved funnel cake and fudge, was a professional napper, and a card-carrying member of LEGO Insiders. David enjoyed his own quiet time, doing the laundry while starting his day and giving an easy time to pray. He enjoyed his time outside alone tinkering with things in his garage and late nights building Lego. These were important to his way of being and who he was.

As Doris reflected on David, her first thoughts are, 'Everyone loved David', "Things were very black and white, with a lot of navy blue as well", "He was kind, gentle and never fought", "He wasn't just involved, but he was a leader and fully committed". "We will never fill his shoes". He cared for and connected with everyone. He was a great friend, role model for his sons, young adults, his siblings, nieces and nephews. He was a teacher who made learning fun and was able to simplify complicated ideas, was always eager to help others, by repairing something or sharing his knowledge.

He was his large family's rock, and mirrored what it means to love your spouse unconditionally. David was a tremendous presence wherever he went and always put a smile on the faces of those he encountered. His family will miss his big, strong hugs and goofy, loving personality. His passing leaves a tremendous void that will be difficult to fill. His family, colleagues and friends will lament no longer being able to ask David questions about the great many topics that he was knowledgeable about, including religion, philosophy, the sciences and all things mechanical. We have never known a finer example of a human being.

David continued his lifelong passion for giving by being an organ donor to provide hope to others who are in need of a life saving or a life enhancing transplant.

David is survived by his wife, Doris, sons Gregory, Emmanuel, Samuel, Peter, Vincent , and six siblings, Peter, Elizabeth (Leo) Caprini, Martha (Michael) Lahr, Mark (Melanie), Maryanna (Will) Seccombe and Gregory. David is also survived by godchildren (Jeff Rafferty, Truman Lahr, Patrick Biché) and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his father and mother, Bill and Annette, sister Alice, and many aunts and uncles.

David's memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 6, 2025, with a gathering from 9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church, 41 E. Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA 19050. A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately afterwards at The Yard Pub in Havertown, PA. Condolences may be offered at www.doylestonelake.com .

In lieu of flowers, David's family requests donations be made to the David A. Biché Memorial Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation.

To all who knew and loved Dave, I am so sorry for your loss. We had a shared passion in the PA Center for Adapted Sports. He was a huge support in helping us to launch our Chester County program and I will always remember him fondly. With tears and love, Loretta Cohen
