He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as an IT Specialist until he retired in December 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years, Cindy Morda; his three sons who he was so proud of, David Bickerstaff, Jr. of Coinjock, North Carolina, Christopher (Amy Stape) Bickerstaff of Irwin and Matthew (Ashley) Salinas-Bickerstaff of Moyock, North Carolina; two amazing grandsons, Riley and Wyatt Salinas-Bickerstaff; his mother who he loved, Norma Hobaugh Bickerstaff of Paintertown; and two siblings, brother Dale (Jeanien) Bickerstaff of Paintertown and sister Dawn Bickerstaff Meade of Eldersburg, Maryland. Everyone will gather at the funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 21st for a funeral service. Interment with military honors will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, the best way to honor David's memory is to spread joy, love, light and laughter the way he did in life and always show kindness and compassion for others. Dear Family and Friends of David,

As I read the Pittsburgh Post Gazette from my home in Los Angeles, [I try to keep up with local Pittsburgh news], I knew the name was very familiar. I am almost certain that I taught David at Harrison Park Elementary School! First impressions? I can remember well that little boy who was talkative and full of curiosity. He was a little dynamo. He was always moving about and his energy knew no bounds. He was a questioner. At this stage in my life, I cannot remember which grade, since I taught 2, 3, 4, 5, over my six years in the Penn-Trafford School District.

I am so sorry for your loss. Gone much too soon. I am proud of the man he became and the loving family that surrounded him. May your memories continue to bring you solace and comfort. Rest in Peace, lovely prince.

Sincerely,
Dr. Beverly [Bozsik] Van Citters
