David Crockett Blankinship, age 84, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
David was born on June 15, 1941, near Canalou, Missouri, the son of Conliff C. and Ruby C. Lucy Blankinship Sr. He was united in marriage to Doris Ann Duffey on June 1, 1963, at the Church of Christ in Bloomfield, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2014.
David attended Canalou Elementary School and was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from October 6, 1959, until his discharge on September 21, 1962. Following his marriage, David and Doris made their home in New Madrid, Missouri, where David was employed with the New Madrid Police Department until his retirement. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodges in Canalou and Morehouse.
He is survived by two children, Brent Alan Blankinship and his wife Lynn of Braselton, Georgia, and Crystal Ann Blankinship of Terrel, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Meghan Lea Meracle, Jordan Elizabeth Wynter Blankinship Finkbeiner, Jonnie Ann Brewer, Casey Ann Jones, Grant David Harkins, and Mason Tyler Barry; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Walter Blankinship and Connie White.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, David was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Iris Drake, Betty Stanton, Mary Belle Crouch, Conliff Blankinship Jr., Bonnie Boutz, Jessie Pearl Baer, Virginia Blankinship, F. A. Blankinship, and R. C. Blankinship.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Drake officiating. Interment will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Grant Harkins, Mike Robey, Dean Robey, Jeff Dye, Paul Blankinship, and Ken Blankinship.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
