David Lloyd Bodtker, 80, passed away on January 27, 2026.
David was born on April 10, 1945 and was raised in Walnut Creek California. Right after high school he joined the United States Navy in 1963. He proudly fought in the Vietnam War, which included two tours in Vietnam up the Saigon River. He left the Navy in 1969, and started working for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 35 years.
David married his wife, Beverly Alice Biggs in Yuba City on August 16, 1969. Beverly was the light of David’s life. Together they welcomed a son John Bodtker in 1976, and a daughter, Sarah Bodtker in 1985.
During David’s life he enjoyed fishing, splitting and cutting wood, and had a deep love for all animals. His love for animals included his dogs, chickens, and ducks.
David also had a deep love for 1950’s and 1960’s music. Some of his favorite artists included Ricky Nelson, John Denver, and Ed Sheeran. He also liked the Kansas City Chiefs and the movie, ‘Good Morning Vietnam’.
Known for his humor, David mentioned he would love to start a GoFundMe for his ‘New Corvette’.
David is survived by his children: John (Brooke) Bodtker, Sarah (Thomas) Hughes, and his grandchildren: Avarie Bodtker, Reid Bodtker, Hunter Hughes, and Haidyn Hughes. He is also survived by his brother: Dale (Sharon) Budtker, sister-in-law: Traci DeLong, brother-in-law: Clark DeLong, and nieces and nephews: Eric Bodtker, Davin Bodtker, Tanya White, Juli Church, and Nicole Howland.
David is preceded in death by the light and love of his life, Beverly Alice Bodtker, his parents: Howard and Lorraine Bodtker, and his in-laws: John and Thelma Biggs.
