West Des Moines
David Michael Bolfik, 72, of West Des Moines passed away February 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. A celebration of life mass will be held 12 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family, HCI Kavanagh House or Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Coach Bolfik was a major influence in my career choice - teaching and coaching. He was a great teacher and coach and when I think back to my days in Marcus I always remember wrestling for him. Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Susie and family, we are very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Dave was a great mentor and friend to a young first year coach and teacher. His quiet, soft spoken manner helped temper this bullheaded young coach and made me a better coach. My four years of coaching with Dave, gave me a great foundation that helped me in my 32 years of coaching. Dave will always have a special place in our hearts. Dear Susie and family, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of "Coach Bolfik". I have many wonderful memories of being on his track team. He knew how to coach and have fun at the same time. His easy going demeanor and kindness made even the worst "conditioning" days enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for a better coach. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Bolfik was known as Coach to us at Marcus Community high school in Marcus, Iowa. He was hired to Coach wrestling but helped us start a girls' track team. He was a good role model, fun to have on faculty. I am sorry to hear of his death and the loss to his family. I remember him fondly.

Lee and I both have such fond memories of "Mr. Bolfik" and the many lives he touched in his life. He was a great coach, teacher, and role model. His name comes up so often in conversations in Marcus. He definitely made an life impression on many of his Marcus students.

I hadn't realized Dave had been ill or that he had passed. I was working today, but would have taken the day off had I known. I will contact you soon. Clancy and I still remember having an enjoyable dinner with both of you. I remember how much he enjoyed tennis.
