David Booher, dedicated husband, father, and beloved Boo Boo, pancake maker extraordinaire, master of breakfast feasts, cinnamon roll enthusiast, and fisher cat aficionado went peacefully home to be with Jesus on November 11th, 2024 after a short illness.
Anyone who knew David knew of his generous and giving spirit (especially of sweet treats), his love for his family, and his commitment to his Savior.
Born in 1946 in New Castle, PA to Velma and Delmar Booher, Dave grew up surrounded by six feral brothers and one amazing saint of a sister, Bonnie Pilner. He would often regale us with his stories of his pet raccoon Rocky, of Little Rascalesque camping adventures, jumping out of upper windows onto his mattress, and just generally running amok in the neighborhood.
He married his high school sweetheart, Amanda (Miller), in 1969. He was a four year veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Upon his end of service, he became a lifetime employee of Westinghouse electric and its affiliates. As he and Amanda began to grow their family, Dave sacrificed endlessly for the good of his family often working a second and occasionally a third job to provide. Even then, he still found time to be present whether taking the kids to the park, swimming at friends', sled riding, or just to the church parking lot with bikes. Furthermore, to the chagrin of the referees, he was also very present at all his children's sporting events.
Since retirement, you would have most likely found him reading one of his history and nature magazines, cruising in his Pontiac GTO, or, his favorite, with his grandchildren. He adored them, and after time spent with them he would sit and relive it all over again laughing out loud much of the time. He was a committed and active member of Library Baptist Church for over 45 years, eventually attending New Day Assembly of God where his son Seth pastors. Additionally, David was a long time director at Library Sportsman Association and member of the Marine Corps League pistol team.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Amanda, and their children Anna Booher, Scott (Megan) Booher, Leah (Ravinder) Batth, Seth (Katie) Booher, and Rebekah (Daniel) Behrens. In additional to 8 grandchildren, Selah, Waylon, Gideon, Eugene, Sabal, Darcy, Mary, and Levi, He is survived by one brother, Melvin (June) Booher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Delmar, William, Ken, Charles, Robert, and Bonnie.
Funeral hours are Friday, November 15th, 4PM-8PM at Beinhauer-Connell Funeral Home located at 5120 West Library Ave, Bethel Park, PA 15102. The celebration of life service, officiated by Pastor Ken Barner, will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 10am at Library Baptist Church/ Crossroads Ministries (81 Walter Long Rd, Finleyville, PA 15332). The family would be blessed to hear your memories of David. Should you have one to share, please call 412-450-0581 and leave a voicemail. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a cause close to David's heart, The Friends of Haiti. I only know David from the Marine Corp League pistol shooting team. He was the best of us; always encouraging. Always a friend. I loved him for that; even though he often beat my score in the pistol competitions. He was a gentleman and a friend and I will miss him. Bruce
