Dave grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he played trumpet in the Wildcat Marching Band, was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Dave married his wife Anne (Maher) in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, during the summer of 1984. Dave and Anne lived in various cities before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they were blessed with their two children, Alexandra and Daniel. In the early 2000s, Dave and Anne moved with their children to Milton, Georgia. Dave enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams and activities over the years.
Dave spent most of his career in the manufacturing and energy sectors working in sales, marketing, and operations leadership roles at Westinghouse, General Electric, and other companies in related industries. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dave also had a consulting practice serving customers in various industries for many years.
In his spare time, Dave loved spending time with family and friends, reading, following sports, and learning languages. He also devoted time to offer career advice to military veteran jobseekers through Hire Heroes USA and to civilian jobseekers through various local networking groups.
Dave will be most fondly remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence, and willingness to lend a helpful ear, especially to his loved ones and friends.
Along with his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his brother, Jonathon Boss. He is survived by his wife, Anne Boss, of Milton, Georgia; daughter, Alexandra Boss, of Milton, Georgia; son, Daniel Boss, of Troy, Michigan; sisters, Sharon Amann, of Delaware, and Susan Williams (Mike), of New York; nieces, Margarita Redmon (Sam), of Virginia, and Melissa Williams, of New York; and many friends.
Visitation will take place Friday, March 8, 2024, from 12 to 2 pm at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, Indiana. Committal service and burial will follow at 2:45 pm at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana.
