David Harold Bowman

David Harold Bowman left this earthly existence on November 21st, 2025.

He was born December 14th, 1955, in Arlington, Virginia, the first child of Harold and Hulda Bowman. Growing up in Vienna, Virginia, he enjoyed outdoor activities with the Boy Scouts and rock climbing. He studied forestry, history, and geology at Radford University. But his true vocational passion was as a sous chef and eventually as a kitchen manager. He worked for many organizations, at one point involved in the development of a new restaurant concept in Lynchburg, Virginia. The final nine years of his career were spent at Region's 117, where he is remembered for his innovative and mentoring contributions.

When not working, David enjoyed his passions for geology, mineralogy, civil-war history, fishing, and gardening. He was a talented amateur artist, making pottery and painting many of the landscapes he loved.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Leon Bowman and Hulda Jeraldine Bowman.

He is survived by his siblings, Rebecca Bowman of Winchester, Jeffrey Bowman of Afton, Virginia, and Mary Bowman of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He is also survived by nephews and nieces: Rachael Kambic (Nathan) of Hampton, Virginia, Catheryn Lenow (John) of Louisa, Virginia, Ruth Ferneyhough (Edward) of Charlottesville, Virginia, Andrew Bowman of Pelzer, South Carolina, and Jonathan Bowman (Victoria) of Waynesboro, Virginia.

A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Shenandoah Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service to celebrate his life at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church of Winchester, with reception following.
