David John Breyman III passed away unexpectedly in a tragic farming accident while delivering feed to a dairy south of Corvallis, Oregon on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. He was born August 10th, 1967 in Salem, Oregon to Jack and Sharlene Breyman.
David grew up in the Independence area and graduated from Central High School in 1985. He enjoyed playing sports, with football being his favorite sport to participate in. David was also a member and President of the FFA and participated in tractor driving competitions, winning 1st place in the Polk County Farm Bureau tractor driving competition in 1984.
David also coached his younger brothers' MIKI (Monmouth Independence Kids Incorporated) football teams for several years.
After studying diesel mechanics at Linn-Benton Community College, David worked on the family farm, Breyman Farms Inc, for nearly 30 years, and was essential in the growth of Breyman Farms expanding to multiple locations in the Willamette Valley.
David married Sara Jean Plumley on March 3rd, 2006 at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Warrenton, Oregon. Sara graduated from Central High School in 1987. They were married 18 years. When David wasn't working or playing, he often helped with the operation of the Plumley family horse ranch located in Monmouth. There he helped with maintaining the equipment, fencing, and overseed the property.
David was a long-time member of the Independence Elks Lodge #1950. When it came to outdoor activities, he had varied interests, including hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and spending time on the beaches of Gearhart and Maui. He also enjoyed trips to Jordan Valley during hunting season and Jeeping throughout the hills in Monmouth with his wife and dogs. Most every Sunday, he also really enjoyed making breakfast-in-bed for his wife.
David enjoyed attending Beaver football and basketball games and watching games with family and friends. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, driving fast cars, and was passionate about Dodge diesel trucks.
When he moved on from Breyman Farms he quickly became like family at a trucking and feed company in Rickreall, OR, delivering loads of agricultural grain commodities to dairies throughout Oregon and Washington. When called in unexpectedly for work, he wouldn't complain, but would say "Well the cows gotta eat!"
David was preceded in death by his beloved stepdaughter, Alex Mooney. He is survived by his parents Jack and Sharlene Breyman, his wife Sara Breyman, his daughter Elizabeth Breyman, brothers Daniel and Jay Breyman, and his sister Rachel Brandt, and multiple nieces and nephews.
David is missed by everyone, especially for his huge laugh, big smile, his willingness to help at the drop of a hat but most of all, his amazing humor and wittiness that was like no other. He was one of a kind.
A Celebration of Life service will be held March 3rd, 2024, at Green Villa Barn in Independence, at 1:00 p.m.
