David H. Brown Jr., affectionately known as “Buster,” passed away on February 15, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on January 20, 1946, in Springfield, David spent most of his life in Newbury, where he built both his home and his legacy. A lifelong presence in the coastal community he loved, Buster found his greatest joy on the water — boating, lobstering, and clamming were not just hobbies, but a way of life.
David was the proud owner of Newburyport Press Inc, which he led with dedication and hard work until selling the business to enjoy his well-earned retirement.
He had a deep love for classic cars, house renovations, and his dogs, always happiest when tackling a project or restoring something to its former glory.
David was the son of the late David Harrell Brown, Sr. and Rachael Nigh Brown. He was predeceased by his wife, Cynthia.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Currier Brown of Locust Grove; his daughter, Kate Brown of Aiken; his sister, Merrilyn Goodwin (Paul) of Coventry; his sister, Mia Dodge (David) of Buxton; his brother, Wendell Brown of Treasure Island; and five nieces and nephews.
There will be no immediate wake or memorial service. A celebration of life will be planned at a future date.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
