David Alan Brown passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 42.

He was born on March 30, 1983, in West Columbia, South Carolina. He was the second child and oldest son of Kenneth Brown and Terry Hutcheon nèe Rowell.

He grew up in Sumter and was an excellent guitarist who could play by ear. He enjoyed writing songs, teaching guitar lessons, and sharing music with everyone in his life. He played in several bands and loved to sing. He was a kind and loving person with a great sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Neil Brown.

He is survived by his three children, Gage (16), Gracelyn (15), and Emma (10); his mother, Terry (Gordon) Hutcheon; and his siblings, Franky Brown-Gubler (Tyrone Gubler), Robert (Janet) Brown, and Katharine (Michael) Stinton.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 25 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 pm in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel located at 515 Miller Road, Sumter, SC 29150.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (N.A.M.I.) or planting a tree in David's honor.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
