David Lee Burruss, age 80, of Louisville, passed away on June 20, 2023.
Preceding him were his parents, Edna Jackson Burruss and Woodruff Howard Burruss, Little Mom, and his devoted daughter, Victoria. He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy "Dotty" Allgeier, nearing 62 years.
He was proud to have attended Our Mother of Sorrows School, St. Xavier High School, and Bellarmine University, where he lettered in baseball. He retired with 36 years of service from Philip Morris. "Pop" enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a talented musician who could play any song by ear on the piano. He was athletic, always full of fun facts, and kept us all entertained with his humor. But his greatest talent was being an exceptional Dad and "Poppy" to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who miss him dearly: Debra Stilger (Terry), daughters Dara Griggs (Logan) and Lana Eagleton (Zachary); David Burruss (Jyoti), children Cami, Matthew, Clayton; Paula Beck (Bryan), Holly Weyler; and 6 great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way.
Visitation will be at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, on Monday, June 26, from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road, on Tuesday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetary.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
