David Bush Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. on May 28, 2025.
David W. Bush, 57, of Enola, died on May 24, 2025 while surrounded by family at the cancer ICU Penn State Medical Center, Hershey, PA.
David was born July 3, 1967 at Elmendorf, Air Force Base hospital, Anchorage, Alaska to US Army Sergeant First Class Elbert Wayne Bush and Carol Elkins Bush.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, who was killed in action January 1973 while serving on an advisory team to a Vietnamese Airborne Ranger Battalion in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Jaime Youst Bush of Enola; his step-father Bert L. and wife Carol Elkins Bush Lennon of Carlisle; and brother Seth M. and wife Samantha Lennon of Woodbridge, VA.
As both David's birth father and step-father were both members of the U.S. Army, he lived the nomadic life style of a military child moving to Army posts all over the states. He attended schools in Mississippi, Georgia, Texas and Kentucky graduating in 1985 from North Hardin County HS in Radcliff, KY (the community outside of Ft Knox).
David joined the U.S. Navy and was trained as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate and was assigned to serve as a crash-rescue fireman in support of aviation operations. He served two years at NAS Sigonella, Lentini, Sicily, Italy and two years on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. While assigned to the Saratoga, he deployed to the Red Sea where he supported daily flight operations on the carrier deck during Operation Desert Storm. David attained the rank of Petty Officer Third Class before leaving the Navy.
After service, David pursued college studies under the GI Bill while working a variety of jobs in Alabama then Kansas. David relocated to Carlisle in 1995 and worked various jobs at Lear Carpet Manufacturing, Keen Trucking, Merchants Express Money Orders, Inc. and Amazon.
David loved baseball and was a life-long fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was an avid golfer and played as much as he could. While in Kansas, he became a great fan of the Kansas City Chiefs football team and followed their season closely. David also loved working outside with his lawn, shrubs and flowers.
There are no ceremonies or memorials planned so in lieu of flowers, friends are requested to make a donation to the cancer fighting organization of their own choice.
The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bush family.

While working at EDS, I first Dave during Summer 1996. Since then, we were lifelong friends spending countless weekends hanging out and doing all kinds of crazy things guys do when they are in their 20s and early 30s.

I'm saddened to hear of Dave's passing as he truly was a genuine guy and one of my closest friends (even though he was an Atlanta Braves fan).

Have a "cold one" waiting for me when I eventually get there, Dave as I'm looking forward to seeing you again.

My sincerest condolences to both Jaime and the Lennon family.
