David J. Butler

David J. Butler, at rest August 14, 2023 at his home in Lemont. Born July 15, 1951 in Oak Park, IL to John and Frances Butler. David proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Beloved husband of Kathi (nee Rubel); loving father of Jennifer (Steven) Gillett and John Butler; devoted grandfather of Addison and Shawn Gillett; dearest brother of Patrick (Ginger), Richard (Mary Beth), Marilyn (the late Harold) Guttke and Mary Frances (the late Dennis) Rhude; dear brother-in-law of Daniel (the late Elizabeth) Rubel; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews, dear friend of many. Dave was a man who never met a stranger and had a story for every occasion. He had a love of people, especially his family and friends. Dave truly enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and was an avid Chicago sports fan, in particular, the Bears and White Sox. Visitation Friday August 18, 2023 from 5-8 P.M. at Cappetta's West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 4920 Main St., Downers Grove. Family and friends are asked to meet Saturday at St. Alphonsus Church 605 State St., Lemont for a 10:30 A.M. Funeral Mass. Interment will be held privately at Resurrection Cemetery.
