In 1969, the family moved to Eastchester, New York and David started working for the Foreign Trade Council in New York City, which lasted 9 years. His third child, Christopher, was born in Massachusetts, and David earned his PhD from New York University during that time.
In March 1979, David began working for the Agency for International Development and was assigned to Damascus, Syria until September 1980, when he was assigned to Nouakchott, Mauritania. From September,1983- August 1987, David was stationed in Cairo, Egypt, then in Washington, D.C. until his retirement in January 1993.
David and Kate were in New Bedford, MA until 2001, when they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2018, David and Kate moved to Centennial, Colorado.
David enjoyed playing tennis, stamp collecting, walking, and biking, as well as canoeing and kayaking, and generally being active. Traveling was a passion, and he especially loved Kauai, Hawaii.
He is survived by his Spouse, Kate Carr, and children, Cynthia Carr (and Mark) of Centennial Colorado, and Christopher Carr of Encino, California as well as grandchildren, Daniel, Rebecca, Ian and Leila. He was predeceased by his middle child, Elizabeth Leila Carr Zariello and his brother, Robert W. Carr. He will be buried in Newington NH.
