David J. Catallozzi, 88, of Shrewsbury, passed away surrounded by loved ones Sunday, August 18, 2024, after a brief period of declining health.

David was born in Worcester, the son of Alfredo and Esther (Testa) Catallozzi. Raised here, David graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School with a focus on electrical wiring. He then earned his journeyman license working with IBEW Local 96 in Worcester. He worked for Fischbach and Moore, electrical contractors in Boston, starting as an electrical estimator. David worked his way up the ranks and attained his Master Electrician’s license. As a result, he became Vice President and District Manager of the New England District for Fischbach and Moore. After his time with Fischbach, David continued to work for various other companies in the industry.

 David is survived by his wife Marilea (DiLeo) Catallozzi; three children he was so proud of and loved dearly, David M. Catallozzi and his wife Karen of Shrewsbury, Donna M. Tarantino and her husband David of Millbury, Michael J. Catallozzi and his wife Domiana of Lancaster; A brother, John Catallozzi of Shrewsbury, sister, Anna Ciociolo Leach in Nevada; eight grandchildren he adored, Valerie, Diane, Gina, Jason, Michaela, Melissa, Chris and Tony; five great grandchildren, Rylin, Kallin, Cecilia, Vanessa, and Theo; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A brother, Edmund Catallozzi and sister, Dorothy Morrissey predeceased him.

 A quiet man with a huge heart, caring soul and bright smile, David was an avid golfer, enjoying any course he could, Charles River in Boston or with the Wyman-Gordon league at Westborough Country Club. He was a member of the Greendale men’s bowling league, loved to play cards, sing in barbershop choruses and quartets, travel with Marilea to Italy, the casinos, Cape Cod, Vegas, and spending time in Florida. Family was everything to David, he has over the years been involved with his children’s activities, he did the same with his grandchildren. David never missed a game or activity. Holidays, special occasions, family dinners will always be remembered as special times in his life.

Calling hours for David will be held Thursday, August 22, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCDANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Friday, departing from the funeral home at 9:25 in procession to St Brigid Church, 59 Main St Millbury where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to St Brigid Church endowment fund, 59 North Main St Millbury, MA 01527.
