WORCESTER — Maria A. (Migliorelli) Leone, 76, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Maria was born in San Giorgio a Liri, Lazio, Italy, a daughter of the late Andrea and Carolina (Tuccilo) Migliorelli. She came to America with her husband, Antonio, in 1968, and they settled in the Grafton Hill area of Worcester.
Maria worked as a seamstress at Hersch Neckwear for many years before becoming a lab aide at UMass Chan Medical School, where she later retired. She was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Loreto Parish. She volunteered at various parish events and especially enjoyed baking Italian cookies for the annual festival.
In her spare time, Maria enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking Italian cookies, and spending cherished time with her family, especially her grandsons and her beloved grand dogs.
Maria is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Antonio Leone; their two sons, Marco Leone and his wife, Tammy, of West Barnstable, and Luca Leone and his wife, Basia, of Worcester; three sisters, Assunta D’Annolfo of Worcester, Rita Viapiano and her husband, Luigi, of Worcester, and Elvira Migliorelli of Worcester, who resided with her for the last 50 years and with whom she shared a special bond; three grandsons, Dante Leone and his fiancée, Brianna Schwam, of Tennessee, Nicholas Leone of Quincy, and Tyler Leone of West Barnstable; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Marcello and Maria Pia Migliorelli, and her brother-in-law, Ralph D’Annolfo.
Services for Maria will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Loreto Parish, 37 Massasoit Rd., Worcester. Entombment will follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, February 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
