William "Kevin" McDonald, of Holden MA, passed away on February 27, 2026 at the age of 82. He was born in
Brighton, MA on April 12, 1943 to Charles Henry and Helene Victoria (Marnane) McDonald, the youngest of five children.
Kevin built lifelong friendships and graduated from Westborough High School. He continued his education at the former Ward Business School in Worcester before earning his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Worcester State College.
Kevin dedicated six years to serving his country in the Army National Guard (1964–1970) as part of Company B, 110th Armor Division in
Hudson, MA. His professional life was filled with purpose, first as a police officer in Westborough and a teacher in the Auburn and Worcester school districts. He later found his true calling at IBM, where he worked as a systems engineer in the Boston Copley office until his retirement.
Above all, Kevin was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Jane (Mungovan) McDonald for 57 years. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. For over 40 years, they were loyal season ticket holders for Holy Cross basketball and football, and Kevin's love for sports extended to his time as a member of Holden and Wachusett Country Clubs, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends.
Kevin found immense joy in caring for his home and yard, earning him the affectionate nickname "Mr. Four Seasons." No matter the time of year, he could always be found outside, tending to projects and taking pride in the place he and Jane built together.
One of Kevin's greatest passions was traveling with Jane. They explored Europe together, embarked on ten cruises to Bermuda, the Caribbean, and the Rhine River. For over 40 years, their favorite escape was in Ogunquit, Maine, where they created some of their most cherished memories.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Helene McDonald and his beloved siblings: Helene (Terry) Schmidlin and her husband Fred, Dianne Weagly, Carol Walsh, and Charles H. McDonald and his wife Jane, and his sister-in-law, Althea (Mungovan) Collilanni. He will be sorely missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Kevin will be most remembered for his unwavering devotion to the people he loved. In life's most difficult moments, he showed up-often with a trunk full of tools, a warm meal in hand, and the steady expertise that could fix almost anything. More than that, he brought comfort, strength, and a quiet reassurance that no one had to face hardship alone. His generosity of spirit, his steadfast support, and his deep care for family and friends will be cherished always and remembered with profound gratitude.
Honoring Kevin's wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a
charity of your choice.
