Frances Barnes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Athy Memorial Home - Worcester on Mar. 2, 2026.
Frances Margaret (Brislin) Barnes, 82, of Worcester and formerly of Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Worcester.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Frances was the beloved youngest daughter of Thomas and Katherine (Krupp) Brislin. She graduated from Stroudsburg High School and built a life full of warmth, faith, and devotion to those she loved. She resided in Sarasota, Florida for many years before making her home in Worcester, where she spent her final years surrounded by family.

A practicing Catholic throughout her life, Frances found great comfort and purpose in her faith. She had a quiet joy for life's simple pleasures - working through a challenging puzzle, the meditative calm of coloring, and above all, a deep and abiding love of music. She had a tender spot for animals, and especially adored dogs.

Frances is survived by her three children, Arthur Barnes and his wife Donna of Canton, Georgia, Cheryl Andes and her husband Martin of Millbury, and Denise Kirkwood of Sevierville, Tennessee; her sister Maurietta "Maurie" Needham and her husband Pete; her five grandchildren, George, Lee, Timothy, Keni Marie, and Gillian; two great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Aurelia; and a cherished extended family and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timothy Barnes.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street, Worcester. Burial will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances' memory may be made to Lutheran Rehabilitation Center in Worcester.
