David Wade Chaple, 82, of Huntsville; passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville. He was born Saturday, January 2, 1943, in West Palm Beach, Florida; to Roger Brinson and Katherine Jeanette Mauldin Chaple.
David married Rhoda May Johnson on Friday, April 28, 1961 in West Palm Beach, Florida; and together they were parents to two daughters. David was a dedicated farmer who raised poultry for George's Inc. on his breeder hen farm for many years. He had a gift for storytelling and being a prankster, often bringing joy to those around him with his jovial nature and playful sense of humor. David was a devoted family man with a thoughtful vision for the future. He was a deeply loving father and a cherished granddad, always engaging wholeheartedly with his grandchildren during their visits. He found joy in riding motorcycles, traveling to the West Coast, and spending time watching his favorite television shows. David also took great pride in maintaining his farm, caring for his equipment with meticulous attention.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda Chaple; and his parents Roger and Katherine Chaple. He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Yvonne and Eric Drost, of Palm Coast, Florida; and Cheryl Thielemann, of Huntsville; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Harry Chaple, Paul Chaple, and Michael Chaple; and one sister, Kathy Durbin.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2025 at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Charles Bengston officiating. Pallbearers will be Eric Drost, Roger Chaple, Chris Drost, Ethan Drost, Brett McNeal, and Ben Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Ayden McNeal and Aaron McNeal. Interment will immediately follow services at Marshall Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
