David Salinas Chavez, 55, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Kingsville, Texas.
He was born on December 4, 1969, in Kingsville, Texas, to Domingo and Laura Y. Chavez.
David was a beloved groundskeeper in Kingsville and the surrounding areas, known for his dedication and friendly demeanor. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. With his quick wit and warm personality, he brought laughter to those around him through his jokes and lighthearted nature. A true community figure, David loved helping people, playing pool, and spending time with his family.
One of David's greatest passions was umpiring at baseball and softball fields. He devoted his life to ensuring fairness and fostering a love of the game among children. His dedication and integrity left a lasting impact on countless players and their families. David's huge heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his fiancée, Hermelinda "Neenah" Del Moral of Kingsville; his son, David Lee Pena of Kingsville; two daughters, Katheryn Garcia and Amy Moya; three brothers, Arturo (Maria) Chavez, Santos Chavez (Gloria), and Domingo Chavez Jr. (Margarita), all of Kingsville; one sister, Susana Salinas Chavez of Kingsville; three grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., offering a time for prayer and reflection to honor David's life and legacy.
A Funeral Mass celebrating David's life will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Paulson officiating.
Burial will follow in Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery, where David will be laid to rest surrounded by the love of his family and the community he cherished. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched and the fields he cared for so deeply.
Arrangements are under the compassionate care of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
