FARMINGDALE - David Franklin Choate went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 5th, 2025.
He was born on October 15th, 1943, in Augusta Maine. The first son of Richard "Frank" Choate and Florance "Ginny" Choate of Farmingdale.
He graduated in 1961 from Gardiner high school. He proudly served in the Army and while stationed in Georgia. Met and married his beloved wife, Sandy of 59+ wonderous years.
Dave had a great love of the outdoors and every year a trip to Baxter State Park, or Shin Pond Village afforded many camping and fishing trips. He was also a sports fan who always had his favorite teams.
Dave was a master electrician for many years working for/with his father, and with his two brothers at RS Choate and sons. Upon his father's retirement he began his next 38 years as Choate Electric with his wife Sandy, and son-in-law Scott by his side. His motto was "always do a job as well behind a customers back, as you would in front of them".
In these political times Dave often gave us many facts, opinions, ect for us to figure out where our country stands and strongly believed that prayer was desperately needed back in our schools and homes.
Dave and Sandy raised two beautiful daughters – Rose Ann (Scott Rodrigue), Nancy Gale (Glenn Morin) and three of the most wonderful grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Twins Tyler David (Adora Klitgaard), Savanna Rose (Charles Barton), and Abigail Grace. He often said how blessed he and Sandy were to have such a loving, caring, happy family.
Dave is survived by his wife Sandy, his wonderful children, grandchildren, and his kitty Cuddles.
The family sends special thanks to Togus VA hospital, as well as Maine Medical Center ICU – SCU4 doctors and nurses for all their care, love, and support.
David's life will be celebrated and remembered at a visitation on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Staples Funeral Home, located at 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner. A private family committal service will take place later this spring. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him.
In honor of David, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos of him on his memorial page at www.staplesfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers donations in Dave's memory may be made to either The Wounded Warriors Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org or St. Jude’s foundations at www.stjude.org/donate as they were both very close to his heart.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
