Born on June 27, 1957, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Coleman and Barbara Claypole, David passed away on October 29th in Miami, Florida. He attended Enid Public Schools, graduating from Enid High School in 1976. David embarked on a 36-year career in the railroad industry in May 1977, starting with the Frisco Railroad in Enid before transferring to Oklahoma City with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He established his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma, in 1990.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Walker Claypole of Chickasha; his stepsons, Joshua, Matthew, and Daniel; his brother, Joe Claypole and wife Connie of Enid; and his nephews, Clint and Travis Claypole.
David lived a remarkable life full of adventure and passion. Known for his incredible memory, he loved recounting stories from the past. A pivotal moment came in 1979 when he attended a balloon festival with his father and fell in love with hot air ballooning. By 1982, David was a certified pilot, flying 226 hours throughout his lifetime. David brought joy and fulfilled dreams to many with his passion for the skies. An enthusiast of many pursuits, David also found pleasure in snow skiing, drag racing, riding dirt bikes, playing his guitar, and traveling. His zest for life and wide-ranging interests left lasting memories with all who knew him.
