A Memorial Service for June Butricks, 90, of Enid will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel in
Enid, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.
June was born in our two-room farmhouse with no electricity on October 3, 1935, to Isaac and Eva (Eck) Koehn and passed away on January 26, 2026, in
Enid, Oklahoma. She went to Isabella grade school for 8 years. Dad took her to school in the mornings but if the weather was nice, we would have to walk home 2.5 miles. She went to Fairview High School and graduated in 1953.
Dad raised wheat, black diamond watermelons, chickens, hogs, and cows. The cats would beg for milk while milking cows and dad taught June how to squirt the milk straight from the cow's teat into the cats' mouth. It was quite a sight. LOL!
We got electricity in 1946 and a radio. Our family would listen to Back to Bible broadcast from Lincoln, Nebraska. The preacher on the radio talked one day about being saved. Then at the age of 11, June asked Jesus to forgive her sins and come into her heart.
While a Junior attending high school, she ran for Major County Fair Queen, but she did not win. Her quote was "I was disappointed, but I accepted it." About that time, our mother was pregnant with her last child. June did not approve of this because she thought that three kids were enough.
On Sunday mornings, our family would get up, do chores, eat breakfast, and then drive 20 miles to Meno to attend New Hopedale Mennonite Church.
After high school, she worked for a short time taking care of children while parents worked and then in 1954, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to attend Grace Bible Institute for general bible studies. She graduated with her Associates in 1957. In college, most of the kids would eat in the dining hall, one evening they were eating a different meat and some were asking if it was chicken. June knew it was rabbit. The Dean rang a bell and announced that someone had donated rabbit for dinner and forks dropped all over the room and no one would eat anymore.
June worked for room and board while attending college there. On Christmas break, June would ride the train from Omaha to Enid, and our parents would pick her up at the train station.
After graduating, she worked for a short time for an insurance company. Then in 1962, she bought a Ford Falcon and moved back to Enid.
June went to work for the State of Oklahoma in the Rehabilitation Department and over the years in other departments for the State of Oklahoma. She retired after 35 years and started going to West Side Baptist Church. While being at West Side Baptist Church she organized the children's choir on Saturday afternoons. She met Jim there and they ended up getting married on November 24, 1964, at Trinity Baptist Church. On October 10, 1966, they welcomed their son, Keith Allen Butricks into the world, this was their only child. In 1968, they joined Calvary Baptist Church.
June and Jim vacationed all over the United States. Their vacation in 1965 they left Enid to head to Colorado, and they were west of Woodward around 11 PM when the car died. Jim told June he would walk or hitchhike back to Woodward for help. June said she would be okay because she had two hammers in the backseat for protection. Jim ended up coming back with help and they got the car going and they made it to Colorado where they ended up having a great time.
Their vacation of 1971, they left Enid about 6:30 PM with their son, Keith and their dog to go to Nebraska to see friends. When they arrived in Nebraska, Jim got sick and they ended up at the hospital where Jim had to have surgery to remove his appendix. He ended up being in the hospital for 5 days. When he was released from the hospital, he told June how to hook up a camper to their vehicle and she got it done. They came home with June learning how to pull a camper.
They started building a new brick home in 1973 with cousin Robert Becker and Uncle Lindy Eck helping. With Jim and June being the conservative couple, they bought used bricks around Enid and would go in the evenings and Saturdays to clean bricks and bring them to where the house was being built.
Jim passed away in October of 2011 and they had celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing. June volunteered at St Mary's gift shop, the Oklahoma Blood Institute, and Pegasys Public Television. Since that time June continued to live in their home being the mayor on Ritchie Street and keeping the neighbors lined out until she had her stroke and had to move into Greenbrier Assisted Living in August of 2024. There, she was known as "Junebug" by the staff taking care of her. Before she went into assisted living, she walked in her neighborhood
several times a day. If you went to see her and she was not home you could drive around and find her walking.
June is survived by her sister Sylvia and husband Dan Jones; brother Earnie Koehn and wife Norma; sister-in-law Faye Koehn and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Butricks and their son Keith Allen Butricks; her parents Isaac and Eva Koehn; one brother Doyle; and a niece Marsha Ramsey.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Greenbrier staff for taking such good care of "Junebug". They went beyond their call of duty to make her happy. She will be missed by her family and friends and remain in our hearts and forever be our guiding angel.
